There are several elements that have shaped –in the last 10 years of its history– the matter of which LeRockPsicophonique is composed: novelty, independence and stubbornness, among others. However, the concepts of search and consistency comprise all of the above and encompass the vision of the label. These ideas allow us to speak of a restless group of musicians that functions as a dynamic instance of collaboration between peers; one that seeks ways to grow in an ever-changing music industry landscape by both stimulating and inspiring among its artists the urge for developing a music that moves away from what the world expects of a Latin American country. Thus, LeRockPsicophonique has collaborated with its catalog in Chilean and foreign films and series, in festivals and concerts in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. Chile, however, remains the stronghold in which LeRockPsicophonique seeks to position itself. That is why a few weeks ago –and after a year of planning– the label held the second version of its international avant-garde music festival: LeRock Fest. More than 20 bands and artists hailing from US, UK, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Argentina and Perú played for more than 12 uninterrupted hours spread over 3 stages featuring post-rock, shoegazing, math-rock and electronica. The festival provides a paramount example that the horizons to which we think this century’s avant-garde music might go are likely to be proposed from this side of the world.
